Raft News for April 2023🌼
‘April showers bring May Flowers’ is a well known old English proverb and April is the month that everything starts to bloom and flourish. Spring Blossom always cheers. The Daisy is the flower of April and symbolises new beginnings, purity and joy.
April fools day on the 1st means pranks and jokes can be played until midday - anyone ever made scrambled eggs from custard powder for the family? 😀

We were so pleased to collaborate with host Leafcreativeuk
where we set up a 'Pop Up' shop running from 22nd March for one week. New are now delighted to announce that it was such a success we have decided to cement our collaboration with them and have agreed to stay on permanently. So exciting! Come and see us in store from 10am, 7 days a week and grab a coffee in the Fernery restaurant. A great venue to bring your friends and family, soak up the atmosphere and loose yourself in the beautiful surroundings inside and out.
We would like to thank Ange & Peter and all the staff for their help in this project and we are having fun meeting new people and showing off our latest brands. To include our own Chill label, Cut Loose, By Basics and Grizas are exciting new additions to Raft. We will be showcasing these sustainable, ethical brands on line in stores and on social media 😍

April’s Birthstone is diamonds!! 💍 We don’t have diamonds but we do have fabulous clear crystals an example seen below by Konplott - Black Jack studsm and waterfall necklace.
We are also very excited to introduce Raft's newest label called CHILL which is laid back Confident, Comfortable Carefee style and here's a gorgeous linen riding/ frock coat which comes in black navy and taupe - keep an eye on Facebook/Instagram and our website for new Chill pieces.

The morning birdsong is in full swing and so heartening to hear as it heralds warmer, longer days ahead. Planting out seed potatoes is a job for now as is sowing seeds in a greenhouse or on a windowsill to plant after all frosts are over.
Does anyone else make an Easter Tree? It’s fun to collect up twigs and find a flower pot - then squash in some oasis and pop in the twigs. You now have a tree so you can hang up your eggs. Some people hand blow eggs and paint them but we have collected shop bought over the years and like Christmas baubles each one means something🥚🪺
So let’s get ready for an Easter egg hunt /hot cross buns/simnel cake and a bank holiday weekend.

Kate’s Delish Spring Recipe for an easy salad
Crispy Sping Onion Potato Salad
500g new potatoes
Bunch of spring onions
1 lemon
150g mayonnaise
Salt
Pepper
Olive oil
Method
Chop potatoes in half and boil approx 15 mins
Finely slice sping onions and separate the white and greens
Fry greens for 5 mins
Put onion whites in a bowl with lemon zest and lemon juice
Drain cooled potatoes and add to the bowl
toss in mayonnaise and most of the crispy onions
scatter remaining crispy onions on top
